About Station
Strategically located close to the inter-city bus station, Sant Tukaram Nagar Metro
Station will provide easy and direct access to the many daily-wage earners who come
from surrounding small towns like Dehugaon, Vadgaon, Talegaon etc.
The metro is expected to capture commuters going from Sant Tukaram Nagar to
various Industrial centres to its north.
This station has been named after the 17th-century Bhakti poet, Sant Shrestha Shri
Sant Tukaram. The station design is inspired by the organic form, inspired by natural
elements like the gently curving leaf-form and the fluid, free-flowing water. From the
stem, the leaf unfolds at first slowly and then spreads majestically into a sleek, even
form. The leaf spreads and then converges delicately to the tip, its many venations
crisscrossing within it. This natural form is an inspiration from nature on the
elementary principles of designs. This conveys the Pune Metro’s organic style of
architecture.
